On 2 January 2026, an ATR 72 operating as Buddha Air Flight 901 suffered a runway excursion while landing at Bhadrapur Airport in Bhadrapur Municipality, Jhapa District, Nepal. Seven people were injured.[1]

Background

The aircraft involved in the accident was 9N-AMF, an ATR 72-500 operated by Buddha Air. It was manufactured in 2007 and used two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW127 engines.[2]

Accident

The aircraft failed to stop and skidded 165-metre (541 ft) from the end of runway 10 and landed in a creek, sustaining substantial damage.[3] Several No.1 propeller blade tips and the nose suffered damage. All 55 passengers and crew were evacuated safely, and there was no fire.[4][2][5][6][7][8]
